We recommend draft limiters

Bullerjan GmbH, like many other manufacturers, generally recommends the use of a draft limiter. This has not primarily to do with the sensitivity of your stove.A draught limiter ensures a permanently even draught in the chimney. This saves heating costs, because in this way the heat generated by the stove can not simply be pulled out through the chimney. You need less fuel, save the environment and your stove.

Regardless of the results that a chimney calculation program outputs after entering the available values, it must be taken into account that the chimney has a basic draft/vacuum of at least 5 Pascal (Pa) when cold.

If the basic draft is too low, flue gas may enter the installation room during the start-up phase. The maximum draught in the chimney during heating operation must not exceed 16 Pascal (Pa). If the draft is too high, the wood will burn too quickly and the stove will not be able to fully develop its heating and environmental qualities.

In extreme cases, too high a draft in the chimney will damage the stove and, in particular, the catalytic converter. Furthermore, under these conditions, ash from the combustion chamber can lift into the catalytic converter, which in turn can cause the stove to malfunction and possibly cause flue gas to escape into the installation room.

The remedy in this case is an automatic draft regulation of the chimney. Please talk to your authorized Bullerjan® trade partner or chimney sweep.
